“Un Altro Modo” Laboratory

Together with the Department of Legal Sciences of the University of Florence (Reference Department), the Department of Law of the University of Siena and the Department of Law of the University of Pisa, CISP has set up the joint laboratoryUn Altro Modo”, i.e. “another way”. 

The Laboratory intends to develop scientific research, both theoretical and applied, on the themes of mediation and negotiation; to experiment with operational methods, innovative techniques of negotiation and conflict mediation in internal and external relations of complex organizations on the regional territory; to develop effective modes of action for the management of conflicts in the different areas of social life, private entities, public action and in the entrepreneurial sphere; to promote initiatives that spread the knowledge and use of ADR systems and conflict mediation in particular. 

In addition to scientific research on the subject of conflict management in mediation, the laboratory will focus on: the development of innovative training projects; the development of experimental practices for the dissemination of mediation; the development of effective modes of action for the management of conflicts in the various areas, with particular attention to the sector of Justice, Health, School, Family, Public Administration; advice to interested citizens; training for employees at Mediation Desks; mediation on a fee-for-service basis; the offer of internships for undergraduates and graduates; the promotion of initiatives that spread the knowledge and use of mediation.

Latest activities:

  • Convention “Mediazione e diritto. Un Altro Modo per ripartire”, At the Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche of the Università degli Studi di Firenze, on the September 27th 2018.

The objective of the convention was to reflect on what mediation means today, what the connections between mediation and law are, and which practices should be recognised as valuable in the response to societies emerging needs.

  • Fourth Edition of the Florentine Mediations. On October 22nd 2018, Enza Pellecchia held the inaugural class with the title of “Conflict and Mediation. Learning in action”. The Florentine mediations represent a chance of shared learning open to all students at the Scuola di Giurisprudenza dell’Università di Firenze, that in this case involved more than 100 students and over 50 professionals from this sector.
